If you need a rugged pocket knife that won’t break the bank for your EDC needs then you may want to look at the new Gerber Scout. The Scout has a 3.19 inch drop point blade with a big oblong opening hole for ambidextrous use. It uses a pivot look which is also ambidextrous and has a reversible deep carry pocket clip. Handle scales are of textured micarta and the blade steel is a rather pedestrian, but functional 440A stainless steel, which is part of the reason it’s so affordable with only a $60 MSRP. Check out the details from Gerber below.
Heavy-duty and ready for the campsite: these were the tenets we held to when designing the Scout.
• Textured micarta handle features a reversible, anti-rotation deep carry pocket clip, along with a lanyard hole and a glass breaker at the butt of the knife.
• The plain edge, drop point blade has a PVD coating that increases corrosion resistance.
• Thumbhole and pivot lock make this knife ambidextrous, so you can open and close it from left or right.
• Like all Gerber products, the Scout is backed by the Gerber Guarantee, our limited lifetime warranty.
You can’t predict what every adventure will bring, but whether you’re in the backcountry or the backyard, the Scout keeps you more than ready.
